Gradient Themes Are Coming to Discord!

Users on Discord are forever divided: light mode or dark mode? Default dark mode? The super-secret AMOLED mode? These two default themes—light or dark—are ingrained in the history of Discord. But all of this may be about to change...
In this article, we will cover the latest leaks for new Gradient Themes that look set to be coming to Discord!
Access to Gradient Themes
Let's start off by being honest with ourselves; this will ,more than likely, be a feature locked behind a Nitro paywall. Discord are on a mission recently to increase the value of Nitro for paying subscribers by offering them more customization. Profile themes came first, followed by "about me" sections and profile banners.
Should Discord go through with introducing gradient themes, we need to face the harsh reality that it will likely just be another feature for Nitro subscribers.
What are Gradient Themes?
According to the most recent Datamine Update bot leaks, users will be able to customise the appearance of their default Discord client without resorting to tools that fall into a grey area of the TOS, such as BetterDiscord.
Users will be able to select one of sixteen preset gradient colour schemes for the appearance of their Discord app. The first eight themes will correlate with Dark Mode, and result in the current Dark Mode appearance being used, with a splash of colour. The second set of eight themes will lead your client down the light mode path.
Confused yet? Let's take a look at some images! But first, where will gradient themes be available?
Platforms
Gradient Themes will undoubtedly be available for both the PC and Mac platforms, according to leaked screenshots. Whether Discord will make this capability available to iOS and Android users is still undetermined at this time.
Gradient Theme Examples
The leakers managed to find some early experimental screenshots of how all sixteen gradients might look when applied to the PC Discord Client. Check out the galleries below for the light and dark mode themes that are already coded into Discord!

My Opinions
Well, what do I think of the gradients? I think it's a cool concept that will allow users to personalise Discord a bit more.
However, I do think that these gradients show Discord's divide between the two modes. Feel free to disagree with me in the Netcord HQ Discord server, but I think that Discord could have tried harder with the light mode gradients. Hear me out...
To me, the dark mode themes seem really cool; the client completely changes colour and it looks really nice, in my opinion. Comparatively, I do think Discord could have possibly tried harder with the light mode gradients. I feel that Discord took the dark themes in the direction of going all out, no budget, let's make this cool, but when it comes to light mode, it seems they just threw in a few accent colours on the sidebar, channel list, and message box.
Potentially, this could show that Discord staff care more for dark mode, but that could just be my overly analytical brain taking the reigns there.
What I'm really saying is that there is room for improvement—surely some light mode gradients could be designed that are similar to how the dark mode ones are.
Anyway, that brings us to the end of the article for today. Make sure to stay tuned for Thursday's article, as there is more juicy theme-related news that surfaced this week! As I said, my opinions may not be your opinions, so hop on over to the Netcord HQ Discord server and share them with like-minded people, but for now, I'll catch you later!
