Discord is launching a Nitro Basic subscription alongside a new Activities feature that includes YouTube integration and casual games. The YouTube integration comes more than a year after the Google-owned video service forced two popular Discord music bots offline. Up until now, the app had Discord Nitro and Discord Nitro Classic subscriptions, of which the latter is going to shut down.
If you haven’t noticed, Twitter and Facebook carry advertisements, while Discord does not. Therefore, if you’ve ever wondered how Discord generates revenue, this is one of the ways it does it.
Discord Nitro Basic Perks
Discord has now introduced Discord Nitro Basic, a new subscription service that gives users access to features for a monthly fee. Discord Nitro Basic is available for $2.99/month or $35.99/year (*but there is no yearly option available yet). For that price, users will get access to several features, including:
- Custom and animated emoji anywhere
- Custom stickers anywhere plus 300 Nitro stickers
- Bigger file sharing (50 MB limit)
- Nitro badge
- Custom video backgrounds
In the United States, Nitro Basic will be available for $2.99 per month. For those living outside the United States, pricing is viewable within your User Settings > Nitro page once it's rolled out.
This nitro subscription would be easy on your pocket yet will keep most of the chatting perks including some fancy stuff.
Discord Nitro Classic, Our Old Giveaway Buddy.
Discord earlier had Nitro Classic which got discontinued recently. For $4.99 a month, where subscribers got a number of benefits, including:
- Profile customization: animated avatar, custom Tag, Nitro badge.
- 30% off Boost purchases
- Use custom and animated emojis anywhere
- Bigger file uploads (50MB)
- Screen share up to 1080p/60fps
Unlike Nitro Classic, the Basic Plan cannot be gifted yet. Quite a problem for servers with frequent giveaway rates, since most of them preferred Classic to Nitro because of its cheaper rate.

Overview
The company says that the goal of Nitro Basic is to give users "an added layer of fun and expression" when using the app.
In a nutshell, the Nitro Basic plan has all the essential features that Discord provides as a part of the regular Nitro plan. Those who are new to Discord and want to get some additional features than what the platform offers for free can go for the Nitro Basic plan.
If you're a Discord user, Nitro Basic might be an excellent way to support the app and get some cool perks in return at a pocket-friendly rate. But if you're not sure about it, you can always stick with the free version of Discord.
